康新高速位于康定市境内，是川藏南线进藏大通道的组成部分，作为川藏铁路的配套工程，康定至新都桥高速公路项目的建设将明显改善甘孜州康定市的交通基础设施，提高区域交通服务能力，带动沿线旅游资源的开发转化，为区域特色鲜明、优势突出的生态旅游支柱产业提供强有力的交通运输支撑，对于促进沿线经济社会发展具有重要意义。

Kang-xin Expressway is located in Kangding City, which is a part of the Sichuan-Tibet Southern Route into Tibet.
